I wanted to take part of this experience because I want to see the world and this is a great way to start. By going at a young age and going to a country that is such a rare time, how they are still a third world country in some parts but in others they are a modern country. I also want to learn about different types of cultures and countries. Out of the whole thing, I am most looking forward to the going to China. Within the trip I am most looking forward to seeing the Water Cube and Birds Nest. I really want to see the Water Cube and Birds Nest because when the Olympics were going on in China I was obsessed with them and always wanted to see them. I want to see them because I think they are really eye catching and pretty too. In the class part I am most looking forward to learning about the Chinese culture because of my interest in different types of cultures and their customs. I fear that I will get lost in a country I do not know. I just also fear about being out of the country without my parents. I am also scared of the food, since I am a very picky eater. I am afraid that I won’t eat anything but rice and I will get really sick and get sent home early. Another thing I fear is offending the people of China and them getting really mad at us.
Hi Megan,
ReplyDeleteReading your post has made me even more excited for this adventure! I agree that an opportunity to travel to such a distant place at such a young age can be an overwhelming experience--overwhelmingly exciting, and overwhelmingly scary. I share in your excitement about visitng the Olympic Village. As is required when hosting the Olympics, China invited the world to celebrate within its borders and that is an historical moment that we should not overlook!
I also want to applaud you for taking the risk of traveling without your parents--Do you think it is possible that this will enhance your travel experience?
Just know that we will all take care of each other as we navigate our way through this amazing country!
I am looking forward to meeting you at our class on Sunday!
